Job Purpose
Maintain stock of tools and consumables for the Generation Site.
Specific Responsibilities
- Responsible for day-to-day tool crib operations, including but not limited to:
- Receive stores issues, document delivery of materials, tools, and supplies, handle necessary paperwork, and notify appropriate personnel of the delivery of their parts.
- Perform physical audits within the storage areas and tool cribs and maintain accurate records.
- Record usage of tools and their associated locations, including cleaning, inspecting, and performing minor repairs to the tools to keep them in safe working condition.
- Arrange and maintain order and cleanliness of the plant storage areas, bins, racks, shelves, and free issue areas. Maintain stock levels of consumables in free issue areas.
- Perform established preventive maintenance routines on tool crib equipment as directed.
- Ensure all parts are available and kitted as needed by the date needed for the work.
- Assist with outage preparation, including but not limited to:
- Work with supervisors to identify outage tool and equipment needs.
- Create and process requisitions for renting extra equipment for the outage.
- Inspect powered equipment, man lifts, fork trucks and maintain appropriate documentation of the inspections.
- Inspect fall protection and other safety equipment according to established policy.
Other Responsibilities
- Work with Mechanical Supervisor to coordinate and establish tool crib needs. Make recommendations for budget items accordingly.
- Maintain laundry articles with appropriate vendor.
- Maintain a culture of safety within the department. Support the Utility's safety programs, complete training appropriate for the position, and provide safe working conditions and practices.
- Maintain a culture of continuous improvement within the department. Utilize lean principles and other continuous improvement tools in an effort to maximize the efficiency of the department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Prior tool crib or warehouse experience preferred.
- Knowledge of, or able to become familiar with, the parts, part numbers, and equipment relating to the Utility industry.
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all audiences, including customers.
- Excellent interpersonal and listening skills, with ability to build productive professional relationships and promote a team atmosphere.
- Proficiency with use of computers and mobile devices, including email, calendar, Internet browsers, and the Microsoft Office suite of products at an intermediate level.
- Good problem identification, analysis, and solving skills.
Abilities
- Ability to work as part of a team, either as team leader or a member of a team.
- Ability to drive results and ensure work is accomplished properly, safely, and in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently, effectively prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adjust work priorities as needed to meet department/organizational objectives.
- Must be comfortable working with power tools of all sizes, fork trucks, hand tools, and hand jacks, etc.
- Ability to develop, read, and interpret drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals.
- Ability to distinguish colors.
Other Position Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to pass a written test and driving test for a powered industrial forklift truck.
- Must be able to attend work on a regular basis and work overtime as needed.
- Must maintain a method of communication in order to be contacted by MPW outside normal work hours.
Work Environment
- Work environment is primarily in an office environment at an industrial coal-fired power plant. Occasional visits to job sites in the plant and on the generation site grounds may be required.
- Must be able to perform the following regular and repeated physical tasks: lifting, bending, climbing, etc.
- Must comply with all safety and site rules at all locations.
