Job Purpose

Maintain stock of tools and consumables for the Generation Site.

Specific Responsibilities

1. Responsible for day-to-day tool crib operations, including but not limited to:
   1. Receive stores issues, document delivery of materials, tools, and supplies, handle necessary paperwork, and notify appropriate personnel of the delivery of their parts.
   2. Perform physical audits within the storage areas and tool cribs and maintain accurate records.
   3. Record usage of tools and their associated locations, including cleaning, inspecting, and performing minor repairs to the tools to keep them in safe working condition.
   4. Arrange and maintain order and cleanliness of the plant storage areas, bins, racks, shelves, and free issue areas. Maintain stock levels of consumables in free issue areas.
   5. Perform established preventive maintenance routines on tool crib equipment as directed.
   6. Ensure all parts are available and kitted as needed by the date needed for the work.
2. Assist with outage preparation, including but not limited to:
   1. Work with supervisors to identify outage tool and equipment needs.
   2. Create and process requisitions for renting extra equipment for the outage.
3. Inspect powered equipment, man lifts, fork trucks and maintain appropriate documentation of the inspections.
4. Inspect fall protection and other safety equipment according to established policy.

Other Responsibilities

1. Work with Mechanical Supervisor to coordinate and establish tool crib needs. Make recommendations for budget items accordingly.
2. Maintain laundry articles with appropriate vendor.
3. Maintain a culture of safety within the department. Support the Utility's safety programs, complete training appropriate for the position, and provide safe working conditions and practices.
4. Maintain a culture of continuous improvement within the department. Utilize lean principles and other continuous improvement tools in an effort to maximize the efficiency of the department.
5. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge

1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Prior tool crib or warehouse experience preferred.
3. Knowledge of, or able to become familiar with, the parts, part numbers, and equipment relating to the Utility industry.

Skills

1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all audiences, including customers.
2. Excellent interpersonal and listening skills, with ability to build productive professional relationships and promote a team atmosphere.
3. Proficiency with use of computers and mobile devices, including email, calendar, Internet browsers, and the Microsoft Office suite of products at an intermediate level.
4. Good problem identification, analysis, and solving skills.

Abilities

1. Ability to work as part of a team, either as team leader or a member of a team.
2. Ability to drive results and ensure work is accomplished properly, safely, and in a timely manner.
3. Ability to work independently, effectively prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adjust work priorities as needed to meet department/organizational objectives.
4. Must be comfortable working with power tools of all sizes, fork trucks, hand tools, and hand jacks, etc.
5. Ability to develop, read, and interpret drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals.
6. Ability to distinguish colors.

Other Position Requirements

1. Must possess a valid driver's license.
2. Must be able to pass a written test and driving test for a powered industrial forklift truck.
3. Must be able to attend work on a regular basis and work overtime as needed.
4. Must maintain a method of communication in order to be contacted by MPW outside normal work hours.

Work Environment

1. Work environment is primarily in an office environment at an industrial coal-fired power plant. Occasional visits to job sites in the plant and on the generation site grounds may be required.
2. Must be able to perform the following regular and repeated physical tasks: lifting, bending, climbing, etc.
3. Must comply with all safety and site rules at all locations.
